How close is the university?
Béton House is approximately a 7-minute walk from Sheffield Hallam University's City Campus. The University of Sheffield is approximately 1.2 miles (1.9 kilometers) from Béton House, which is about a 24-minute walk.
I'm applying through clearing, when can I book a room?
If you have gone through clearing and now have a place at University, you can still book accommodation with us. Check the room availability above, or call us on 01135311000.
My offer has been rejected by the University, can I cancel my booking?
Yes, please screenshot your rejection letter from UCAS along with your name and reference number. Send them to betonhouse@pfpstudents.co.uk within 3 working days to receive your full deposit back.
Do I have contents insurance?
Yes! As standard, all Derwent's students are automatically covered by the #1 Student insurer, Endsleigh. However this cover may not be sufficient for your needs, for example if you have expensive computers and smart phones so we strongly recommend you review your policy and upgrade your cover if you feel you need it. Visit endsleigh's website to check your policy details.
Who looks after my deposit?
Your deposit is safely stored away with a company called DPS you can contact them on 0330 303 0030.
How far is Sheffield City centre?
Sheffield City Centre is approximately 10 minutes walk from Béton House.
Where is the nearest Supermarket?
The closest supermarket is Tesco Express (3-minute walk, 0.2 miles). Lidl (6-minute walk, 0.3 miles) is another nearby option.
Is there a medical centre nearby?
You will need to register with the University Medical Centre on the main City Campus, but there is a chemist on Shoreham Street.
Where is the nearest cashpoint?
The closest ATM is at Tesco Express (3-minute walk, 0.2 miles). Other ATMs can be found at Santander (5-minute walk, 0.3 miles).
Where is the nearest Police station?
South Yorkshire Police - Snig Hill Police Station (14-minute walk, 0.7 miles).
Where is the nearest Post Office?

What's in my room?
Each room at Béton House is equipped with: A comfortable 3/4 sized bed, study area with a desk and chair and ample storage space.
What is included in the kitchen?
Kitchens come equipped with: cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and kettle. We also have kitchen and bedroom packs available through UniKitOut which offer everything from utensils to crockery. If you would like to find out more about these click here.
Who cleans my flat?
You are responsible for cleaning your room and for cleaning your communal areas with your flatmates.
Can I bring a pet?
Sorry, pets are not permitted on any PfP Students properties.
Where can I do my laundry?
The on-site laundry room is available to residents.
Can I personalise my room?
Yes, you can personalise your room with accessories and bedding, but you must not make permanent changes (e.g. painting walls, using nails, or making modifications that cannot be undone). We ask that you don't attach anything to your walls or ceilings as any damage caused will be chargeable.
Can I have guests to stay?
Guests are permitted for a maximum of 2 consecutive nights. Please sign them in at reception on arrival.
Is there anywhere I can store my bike?
Yes, Béton House has secure bike storage facilities available for residents.
Where do I collect my post from?
You can collect your post from the parcel lockers or the designated reception area at Béton House.
How do I report maintenance issues?
You can visit reception to inform us of the issue. You will be given a number to ring for emergency repairs out of hours.
Can I change my room?
You can request to move, but this will depend on availability. Please note that there is a £50 admin fee.
Do I need to have a TV Licence?
Yes, you need a TV licence if you watch live TV or BBC iPlayer, even on a laptop or mobile device.
What facilities are there on site?
Béton House provides a communal lounge, study spaces, a gym, a laundry room, secure bike storage, and social spaces.
Can I store my possessions in the Summer?
Due to security issues and cleaning obligations, we cannot store your possessions over the summer.
Can I book for Summer?
Yes, we can take summer bookings depending on availability. Find out more.
Can I arrive early?
Please contact the site team to check whether your room will be vacated and cleaned by the time you want to arrive. There will be an extra charge for early arrivals.
What about safety and security on site?
Béton House offers 24/7 security, CCTV, and key fob access for residents’ safety.
What is included in my internet package?
Included - 100Mbps, free for the year Wired and Wi-Fi Internet access will be available throughout the building including your rooms and communal areas.
